What Is FxPro?
FxPro was founded in 2006 in Cyprus and is now headquartered in London. It is one of the few retail forex brokers that has genuinely stayed independent through the consolidation wave of the 2010s and early 2020s. No private equity buyout. No rebrand under a holding company you have never heard of. Same name, same ownership structure, 18 years of operating history.
The broker is regulated by the FCA in the UK, CySEC in Cyprus, FSCA in South Africa, and the SCB in the Bahamas. FCA and CySEC are the regulatory anchors — these are not tick-box jurisdictions added to the website footer. FCA regulation means segregated client accounts, mandatory conduct obligations, and a real complaints process backed by the Financial Ombudsman Service.
FxPro serves retail and professional clients globally. They claim 2 million+ registered users and have won enough industry awards to paper a small office — though I have always been more impressed by execution quality than trophy cabinets. What is relevant here is that FxPro is large enough to maintain serious liquidity relationships but not so large that retail clients become invisible in the support queue.
How FxPro Works
FxPro operates on a No Dealing Desk (NDD) model. This is worth understanding because it genuinely affects execution quality. An NDD broker routes your orders directly to liquidity providers — banks, institutional market makers — rather than processing them against an internal book. FxPro's order book does not benefit from your stop-loss being triggered. That conflict of interest is removed.
In practice: orders fill at market price, spreads reflect actual interbank conditions rather than a marked-up internal spread, and slippage during news events is driven by genuine liquidity conditions rather than broker discretion. During major releases like NFP or FOMC, spreads will widen at FxPro — but they widen because the underlying market is genuinely less liquid, not because someone flipped a switch internally.
Account types: Instant Execution (standard, market maker model with fixed-ish spreads), Market Execution (NDD, variable spreads, better for EAs), Raw+ (ultra-tight spreads plus commission, for professional volume traders).
Trading Platform
This is where FxPro genuinely stands out. Four platforms, all properly supported:
| Platform | Type | Key Strength |
|---|---|---|
| MetaTrader 4 | Desktop, Web, iOS, Android | EA compatibility, indicator libraries |
| MetaTrader 5 | Desktop, Web, iOS, Android | Multi-asset, economic calendar, better depth |
| cTrader | Desktop, Web, iOS, Android | Algorithmic trading, Level 2 depth, cBots |
| FxPro Edge | Proprietary Web | Simplified trading, spread betting (UK) |
Most brokers offer MT4. Some offer MT5. Very few offer cTrader properly — and "properly" matters here. There are brokers who list cTrader on their website and then give you a stripped version with limited instrument coverage and no cBot support. FxPro's cTrader implementation is the real thing: Level 2 order book depth, full cBot API, C# scripting, detachable charts, and the kind of market depth display that algorithmic traders actually need.
cTrader for algo traders: If you are running automated strategies or want genuine depth-of-market visibility, cTrader is superior to MT4 for these specific use cases. The cBot framework is well-documented, the back-testing engine is faster, and the order management is more granular. FxPro being one of the few retail brokers to offer it properly is a meaningful differentiator.
MT4 and MT5 are both available with full EA support. Historical data depth is solid — enough for meaningful back-testing on 15-minute charts going back years.
FxPro Edge is the proprietary platform aimed at simpler use cases. In the UK it also supports spread betting — a tax-efficient structure for UK-based traders that avoids capital gains tax on profits. Worth noting if you are a UK resident and have not explored spread betting.
Assets & Instruments
2,100+ instruments across:
| Asset Class | Examples | Approximate Count |
|---|---|---|
| Forex | EUR/USD, GBP/JPY, USD/TRY, exotic pairs | 70+ |
| Shares CFDs | Apple, NVIDIA, Shell, Alibaba, HSBC | 1,600+ |
| Indices | S&P 500, FTSE 100, NASDAQ, Hang Seng | 50+ |
| Commodities | Gold, Silver, WTI Crude, Natural Gas, Coffee | 25+ |
| Cryptocurrencies | BTC, ETH, SOL, ADA, DOGE | 10+ |
| ETF CFDs | SPY, QQQ, sector ETFs | 30+ |
| Futures | Index and commodity futures | Available |
The share CFD count — 1,600+ — is the headline number. FxPro has one of the larger stock CFD offerings in the retail broker space. If you trade individual equities alongside forex and commodities from a single account, that coverage is genuinely useful. UK, US, EU, Asian listings all in one place.
Spreads, Fees & Costs
| Account | EUR/USD Spread | Gold Spread | Commission |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instant Execution | From 1.2 pips | From 0.4 pips | None |
| Market Execution | From 0.6 pips | From 0.25 pips | None |
| Raw+ | From 0.0 pips | From 0.0 pips | From $3.50/lot |
Instant Execution gives you requote-free fills with slightly wider spreads. Good for position traders who hold longer and care less about the exact spread.
Market Execution is the NDD model — variable spreads, genuine market pricing. Better for day traders and news traders where the spread level matters more.
Raw+ is the professional-grade option: ultra-tight spreads with a commission structure. Above roughly 5 lots per day, the maths favours Raw+ over Market Execution. Below that, you are paying commission for a marginal spread improvement.
Fees to know:
- Inactivity fee: $15 per month after 6 months of no trading. Six months is more generous than some brokers (AvaTrade charges after 3 months), but the fee is real. Set a reminder.
- Overnight swap: Standard CFD swap rates apply. Crypto swaps are notably high — do not hold crypto CFDs overnight expecting cheap financing.
- No deposit fees from FxPro. Bank wires from your bank may carry transfer fees on their end.
- Withdrawal fees: No fee for most methods. Some bank transfer routes may incur a small charge — check at point of withdrawal.
Deposits and Withdrawals
Minimum Deposit
$100 USD (or equivalent). In line with industry standard for regulated brokers.
Accepted Payment Methods
| Method | Processing Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bank Wire | 3-5 business days | No FxPro fee |
| Visa/Mastercard | Instant | Standard card limits apply |
| Skrill | Instant | E-wallet |
| Neteller | Instant | E-wallet |
| PayPal | Instant | Select regions |
| Cryptocurrency | Under 1 hour | BTC, ETH, USDT |
Withdrawals
Withdrawal requests are processed within 1-3 business days. FxPro's withdrawal track record is consistent — no significant pattern of complaints about delayed or refused withdrawals in the major forums and review sites I monitor. The AML process applies: return of funds to original deposit method first, bank transfer for profits above deposited amount.
Risk Warning: CFD trading involves significant risk of loss. 74% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with FxPro. NDD execution does not eliminate slippage risk during high-volatility events. Negative balance protection applies to retail accounts under FCA and CySEC oversight. Leverage amplifies both gains and losses. Do not trade capital you cannot afford to lose.
Regulation and Safety
| Regulator | Jurisdiction | Key Protection |
|---|---|---|
| FCA | United Kingdom | FSCS up to £85,000, Financial Ombudsman access |
| CySEC | Cyprus / EU | Investor Compensation Fund up to €20,000 |
| FSCA | South Africa | Local conduct oversight for SA clients |
| SCB | Bahamas | International clients outside EU/UK |
FCA is the most meaningful licence here. It carries the highest client protection in retail forex — £85,000 FSCS coverage is real money and legally enforceable. The Financial Ombudsman Service provides a formal complaints escalation path that brokers are legally obligated to participate in.
CySEC covers EU clients under the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II). The Investor Compensation Fund provides up to €20,000.
Client funds at FxPro are held in segregated accounts at tier-1 banking institutions. They publish audited financial results. The NDD model means FxPro's revenue is primarily from spread markup and commissions — not from client losses. That alignment of incentives matters.
Who FxPro Is Best For
Good fit if you:
- Run automated strategies and need cTrader with full cBot support — not many regulated brokers offer this properly
- Trade a high volume of share CFDs alongside forex from a single account
- Are a UK-based trader interested in spread betting (FxPro Edge, tax-efficient)
- Want NDD execution to remove dealing desk conflict of interest
- Prefer MT4 or MT5 and want robust EA support with genuine institutional-grade liquidity
Not the right broker if you:
- Are a beginner who wants a simpler single-platform experience (four platforms is a feature, but it can overwhelm new traders)
- Need instant withdrawals (1-3 days is standard, not exceptional)
- Want Gold spreads below 0.1 pip — Exness Raw is better for that specific need
- Are based in the US (FxPro does not accept US clients)
Our Verdict
FxPro's main differentiator is platform breadth done properly. Most brokers list four platforms and properly support one. FxPro's cTrader implementation is legitimate — full cBot API, Level 2 depth, the works. For algorithmic traders running C#-based strategies who also want the option of MT4 EAs or a simplified spread betting interface, having all of these under one regulated roof is genuinely valuable.
The NDD execution model adds a layer of credibility that market maker brokers cannot match on paper. In practice, execution quality during normal market conditions is similar across regulated brokers. During news events, NDD genuinely makes a difference — and experienced traders know that the worst fills happen exactly when fills matter most.
The 2,100+ instrument count, led by 1,600+ share CFDs, makes FxPro one of the more comprehensive single-account trading environments available. If you run a diversified approach across forex, equities, and commodities without wanting multiple accounts at multiple brokers, FxPro handles that cleanly.
Open an FxPro account and start on the demo to test cTrader if it is new to you. The learning curve from MT4 to cTrader is real but worth the investment for systematic traders.
Rating: 4.3 / 5 — Properly-implemented cTrader, NDD execution, 2100+ instruments. The platform of choice for algorithmic traders who want real regulation.
